Sylvie Cotton
For our first thematic cycle, we have invited Sylvie Cotton to take part in our various activities and to produce a sensitive and subjective artistic interpretation of the content of the theme, true to her own style.
An interdisciplinary artist, Sylvie Cotton is an art historian, cultural worker, writer and independent curator. Her artistic practice spans performance and action art, artist's books, drawing, photography, installations and writing. For Sylvie Cotton, who has long practiced meditation, “art consists in experiencing an encounter with oneself, with others and with phenomena, whether material or immaterial, subtle or manifest”, and in “letting us see the colouration of this encounter [...], the potential for friction and reciprocal influences”.
Her work can be found at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Archivio Sturani in Rome and in private collections in Quebec, the United States and Europe.
